An easy hike for the whole family.

We meet at Gasthaus Gosausee by the Vorderer Gosausee (plenty of parking available). After a short equipment check, we set off along the picturesque lakeshore, an impressive natural setting nestled in the mountains of the Dachstein massif, with views of the Gosau Glacier and the majestic Gosaukamm ridge.

Along the way, I’ll share fascinating insights into glaciers, water, energy and the diverse flora and fauna of this region. We then climb up to the Ebenalm, where we stop for a break and enjoy the view before hiking back together to our starting point.

We take the chairlift comfortably up to the middle station of the Hornspitz lift. From there, our route leads past the picturesque Torfmoos moor and on towards the Hornspitz. We pass old alpine huts and finally reach the rustic Zeishofalm, a ski hut that treats us to delicious local specialities. Again and again, we are rewarded with stunning views of the majestic Dachstein and the impressive Gosaukamm ridge. The way back takes us across the idyllic Sommeraualm pastures to our starting point.

A peaceful evening walk takes us through the snow-covered winter landscape up to the Kalvarienberg. The soft glow of the torches lights our way to a viewpoint where we enjoy a wonderful view of the glittering Gosau Valley. On clear nights, we can admire a breathtaking starry sky and perhaps even spot a shooting star or two. Afterwards, we return together in good company to our starting point.
